Garden update - June 28

Making good progress this year!

I feel great about our decision to confine the "big kids" together in the east bed. The collards, kale, and romanesco are all about the same size and maturity. They have not gotten crowded out by the squash. Tomatoes trained to climb straight up are getting the light and breeze they need in such a confined space:

Excellent progress for the tomatoes too: one of the cherry tomato varieties is setting flowers and getting ready to fruit.

We planted both Costoluto Fiorentino and Costoluto Genovese, heirloom tomato varieties. We meant to write down what we planted where, but didn't do that about a month ago when these were planted out. I think this is Costoluto Fiorentino.
