Dining room lighting

Remember when we installed a new light fixture in the dining room? The beautiful one we scored for $300 at BBC Lighting? The Tiffany-style faux stained glass fixture?
I'm going to tell you a secret: it never really worked for us. With a yellow room and a yellow light fixture, it was way too much yellow. I couldn't sit at the table after dinner and play a game - the light was too weird. Mr. H. always looked jaundiced. But we both loved the look of the fixture (and we'd spent money on it), so we kind of kept these thoughts to ourselves for a long time. We bought extra bright bulbs that shined white/blue light on the ceiling just to have enough light on the table to see what we were eating.

We finally couldn't take it anymore! In early November, knowing we would be having people over for Thanksgiving and board games, we went back to BBC Lighting and almost immediately found what we were looking for: the Jax Chandelier by ED Ellen Degeneres Lighting. The price was right (about the same as the old one) and installing it would be easy for Mr. H., since an electrician reworked the wiring in the ceiling last time. We ordered it, bought a box of bulbs, and prepared to wait 3 weeks before the fixture arrived.

It arrived the next week! We installed it right away.

Perfect! Bright, warm light that doesn't make anyone look like they need to spend some time under a special lamp to lower the level of bilirubin in one's blood. Also, since it's now 6-7 weeks later, I'm happy to report that the light is perfect for doing jigsaw puzzles in winter.

This one is called "Shakespeare's World"
