We ordered our vegetable garden seeds early this year! Our usual custom is to pour over seed catalogs throughout January, thinking about warmer days ahead even though the gray days outside threaten to go on forever, placing our order on a very frigid day at the beginning of Feburary. Last year, ordering day was January 30. (I checked.) But I had some gift cards for Territorial Seeds to spend and we were anxious to get planning, so even though it's not even Inauguration Day (tomorrow, thank heavens), we are done! Here's what we ordered from Territorial Seeds on January 10:
Tomatoes first:
- Black
- Gold Nugget
- Orange Paruche
- Indigo Rose
- Indigo Cherry Drops
Everything else!
- Everleaf emerald towers (basil)
- Lyon (Swiss chard)
- Electric neon blend (Swiss chard)
- Easter egg II (radish)
- Maestro (peas)
- Dark green Italian plain (parsley)
- Loma (French crisp lettuce)
- Lofty salad mix
- Revolution (lettuce, red)
- New red fire (lettuce, red)
- Dazzling blue (kale)
- Redbor (kale)
- Chioggia (beet)
- Speedy (green beans)
We wanted a few things that Territorial didn't have (my favorite collards, for example), so we did a small order at Seed Savers:
- Yellow pear tomato
- German pink tomato
- Japanese trifele black tomato
- Oma's orange tomato
- Sage
- Thyme
- Collards (2): Ole Timey Blue, Ellen Felton
And that should do it!
