More tomatoes

This is starting to read like Nate's Tomato Blog, but that's where the key action is this summer! We did put in 14 plants after all.

Here's "marvel stripe," setting good sized fruits. They should be ready in around two weeks.

Unfortunately, our Swiss chard crop is not doing well. The germination and plant development isn't great this year, which I attribute to the fact we did not buy new chard seeds; those are from 2017. Oops...

The east bed looks good too. While tying off tomato vines, I also discovered we have our first zucchini of the year on the plant. The zucchini is also trying to steal all the light from the romanesco. Alas.
At some point, I will have to decide when the tomato plants have gotten big enough and lop off the lead vine. Within two weeks, we may be there with some of the plants, particularly in the east bed. It has been hot and humid here the last week. Long walks with Penny exhaust her: she collapses into a puddle when we get home. I go for runs in the morning before hunkering down upstairs to work for the day.

But, back to gardening: this year has been very enjoyable -- it's like we finally have it figured out.
