Craft room updates

Having tackled some major projects in the main floor of the house, it was time to focus on the upstairs. Darcie wanted to improve the craft room to make it a more enjoyable space. We also wanted to start removing old carpet from the upstairs!

After we removed everything from the craft room, I cut out the old carpet, carpet pad, and tack strip.

Once the old floor was up, we found old painted pine flooring in very bad condition. We thought, at one point, we could save the floor and refinish. Alas, that is not possible here.

Once the carpet was up, Darcie set out to paint the baseboards and walls. It was a LOT of work, but worth it!

Getting back to the floors: I set out to undercut door jambs in preparation for installing new flooring. The oscillating tool saves the day (again!).

Once the door jambs were undercut and ready to accept floorboards, I stapled down the underlayment across the floor and got ready to put the new flooring down.

There is still a ton of work to do: install floor, add quarter round, and paint doors and drawer fronts. In due time, all will be done!

  1. Looks like a lot of work for such a small space, but it will be a beautiful and fresh room to make use of your crafts!
